1
Wine Roads & Living History

Your Alfa Romeo adventure begins at Verona Airport, where you’ll meet your fellow travelers and the Nostalgic team. Soon after, you take your place behind the wheel of your classic Alfa Romeo Spider – an icon of Italian Dolce Vita motoring. The first stage leads through the picturesque Lugana wine region, famous for its rolling vineyards, cypress-lined lanes, and charming villages. Along scenic country roads, you arrive in Borghetto sul Mincio, one of northern Italy’s most beautiful medieval villages. Historic fortifications and battlefields from the conflicts between the Habsburg Empire and the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont add fascinating historical depth to the day’s drive. The evening is yours to enjoy on the shores of Lake Garda.

Alpine Serenity & Vineyard Calm

After breakfast, the route climbs toward Monte Baldo, one of the most spectacular panoramic roads in northern Italy. As your Alfa Romeo Spider winds through sharp serpentines and alpine meadows above 1,600 meters, the atmosphere changes completely: cool mountain air, dramatic landscapes, and breathtaking views over Lake Garda. At lunchtime, you stop at a peaceful agriturismo near Arco, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The relaxed countryside setting perfectly captures the slower rhythm of northern Italy. In the afternoon, the famous Gardesana lakeside road leads you back along the western shores of Lake Garda. The day concludes with authentic regional cuisine at Trattoria Vecchia Griglia, where traditional Italian home cooking and local wines create the perfect ending to a memorable driving day.

Where the Mountains Meet the Lake

Today, our classic Alfa Romeos take us north along Lake Garda’s spectacular western shoreline before we leave the lake behind and climb into the winding mountain roads of the Alpe del Garda. Around every corner, new views open across the mountains and the deep blue waters below. We arrive in Limone with time to wander its charming streets and enjoy lunch overlooking the lake before returning south to Sirmione. But the day is far from over. In the early evening, we head to Brescia, where the first signs of Mille Miglia fever have already taken over the historic center. The legendary cars and their teams are gathering, engines echo through the narrow streets and the excitement for tomorrow’s start is everywhere.

Our first taste of the Mille Miglia – and of what is still to come.

The Mille Miglia Begins

Our final drive in the classic Alfa Romeos takes us west to Lake Iseo and through the vineyards of Franciacorta, with a special visit to Bellini Riva Vintage before returning our cars. And then it is time for the main event. As we arrive in Brescia, the entire city seems to pulse with the excitement of the Mille Miglia. Historic palazzi and narrow streets become the stage for an extraordinary gathering of automotive legends. Aston Martins line up alongside Bugattis, Alfa Romeos alongside Ferraris. Engines roar between the buildings, crowds fill the sidewalks and everywhere there is that unmistakable mix of gasoline, leather, espresso and Italian passion. Then, one by one, the teams cross the starting ramp and set off on their epic journey to Rome.

This is more than watching the Mille Miglia. For one unforgettable evening, we become part of it.

One Last Morning on Lake Garda

After days filled with winding mountain roads, beautiful Italian landscapes, classic Alfa Romeos and the unforgettable spectacle of the Mille Miglia, there is no need to rush this final morning. Enjoy breakfast, take one last stroll through Sirmione or simply sit by the lake with an espresso and let the memories of the past days sink in. Later, we say goodbye to Lake Garda and transfer to Verona Airport. The cars may have stopped, but the images remain: open roads, roaring engines, Italian sunshine and the magic of the Mille Miglia. Arrivederci – until the next drive.

Lake Garda & Brescia

Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake, has been one of Europe’s most beloved travel destinations for generations. Framed by the Alps and surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, medieval villages, and elegant lakeside towns, the region offers a perfect blend of Mediterranean atmosphere and alpine scenery.

The driving routes around Lake Garda are among the most beautiful in Italy. The famous Gardesana road hugs dramatic cliffs above the lake, while the remote mountain roads around Monte Baldo and Valvestino offer endless curves, panoramic views, and wonderfully quiet driving experiences – ideal terrain for a classic Alfa Romeo Spider.

Historically, the region played a major role in the unification of Italy, with battlefields, castles, and fortifications still visible throughout the countryside. Today, however, Lake Garda is all about leisure, fine wine, excellent cuisine, and relaxed Italian elegance.

The highlight of this journey is the start of the Mille Miglia in nearby Brescia. Since 1927, the Mille Miglia has become the world’s most celebrated historic car rally, attracting collectors, drivers, and enthusiasts from around the globe. Experiencing the starting atmosphere in Brescia is a dream for every classic car lover.
