Chiantishire

Your transfer from the airport to the hotel will give you a good idea of what to expect in the coming days. Your trip will get off to a grand start when you check into boutique hotel Borgo Scopeto Relais****, a former aristocratic estate, from where you’ll be able to enjoy the magnificent view over Siena as you eat your lunch on the terrace. Your heart will start beating even faster when you start the ignition for the first time and drive off in your Mercedes-Benz SL classic car. The rolling hills of Chianti between Florence and Siena, with their famous wineries, are symbolic for Tuscany. The world-famous cultural landscape of Chianti is characterized by its old castles and palaces, as well as dense woodland and vast forests. And of course, itʼs important to pay a visit to one of the charming wineries. Stop off at one of the world’s oldest wineries, also the ancestral seat of a noble family.

Pienza and Crete Senesi

Fantastic scenery that will set your heart alight lies ahead of you today. Follow quiet country roads through the Crete Senesi, characterized by clay, cypress trees, expansive fields of grain and oak forests. There, where Tuscany is at its most beautiful, you will find the small town of Pienza, designed by Pope Pius II as an ʼideal cityʼ. Your tour guide will not only show you the castle and impressive Renaissance palaces, but youʼll also have the chance to stroll through small, winding alleys and along the boulevard of Corso Rossellino. After all that culture, your classic car will be eager to get going again. Charming vineyards and the town of Montepulciano will provide the backdrop to your return journey. In the evening, we take you to an agriturismo known for its remarkable cuisine and charming atmosphere.

3
Volterra, the city of Alabaster

The drivers among you can celebrate: todayʼs route is the longest and most varied. Through land cultivated since ancient times, peppered with majestic villas, medieval castles and quiet, remote monasteries, you will drive along this panoramic road to the Etruscan town of Volterra, taking in San Gimignano en route. During your guided tour of Volterra’s picturesque old town, youʼll be amazed by the artistic skills of the Alabaster artists in one of the studios. Vineyards with world-renowned names and the Tuscan “Ore Mountains”, from which the ancient Etruscans gathered their riches, are characteristic of the landscapes that will accompany you on the classic car stage that will take you back to your hotel. The hotel terrace, with its spectacular view of Siena and the surrounding vineyards, provides the perfect setting for an atmospheric aperitivo in the evening light.

We will take you to Florence airport in time for your return flight, with memories of eventful days and an authentic driving experience at the wheel of our Mercedes-Benz SL in your luggage. Arrivederci and see you soon!

Italy

Tuscany is one of the most picturesque regions of Italy. It impresses with its unique and diverse landscape. Vineyards mingle with olive trees and alternate with the original bareness of the countryside. This sparseness is broken up by lanes of towering cypress trees. Little-used roads wind their way up hills and run through small sleepy villages. Like a backdrop from a 1950’s Italian film.

For culture lovers, southern Tuscany offers cities such as Siena and San Gimignano , Volterra and Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano are spoiled for choice. Even in the weeks before the world-famous historical horse race, the “Palio” in Siena, the individual “contrade”, the city districts, are rehearsing and preparing for the big race to observe. They march through the city in their historical costumes and practice on their drums for the perfect entry into the Piazza Il Campo.

The Tuscan cuisine impresses with its simplicity and fresh ingredients. The dishes are down-to-earth, but prepared with great skill and love. The most important part of a Tuscan meal is bread. It is served with the dishes in countless variations – from simple flatbread to Pan di Ramerino, which is flavored with raisins and rosemary. Of course, a good wine should not be missing in this area. The Tuscan wines impress with their extraordinarily full taste. A classic and certainly the most famous wine is the ruby red Chianti. A black rooster on a gold background, the “Gallo Nero”, adorns the label of the Chianti wines. A large number of fattories offer interested wine lovers on site the opportunity to convince themselves of the top quality of their wines.

Close your eyes and imagine yourself gliding along the dream roads of Tuscany in an elegant Mercedes-Benz SL. You enjoy the wind in your hair, the driving experience, the landscape, excellent cuisine and the incomparable wines of Chianti.

Our Guests Say It Best

Discover what our guests say about this tour. Real experiences from drivers and travelers who have explored Europe’s most beautiful roads with us.

Beautiful old property

We enjoyed both of our wonderful tours with Nostalgic. The first was in Tuscany. We were greeted at Florence airport and taken by private coach to our base hotel a few miles from Siena. It is a beautiful old property with an excellent restaurant and kitchen. All our needs and wishes were attended to by Walter and his staff. Our cars were clean and ready every morning for the day’s drive. All the routes were conducive to relaxed, uncongested driving. The lunch and dinner venues were outstanding. Given our high expectations based on our tour in Tuscany, we were once again thrilled with our Nostalgic tour of Provence. Our base hotel accommodation was premium. Walter and his staff had arranged spectacular drives through the Alps Maritimes and the Route Napoleon. As expected, the cars were in impeccable condition. The selection of side tours, points of interest, rest stops and restaurants were excellent. Every meal was memorable. Walter and his staff looked after us in every situation. They engender a level of confidence and enthusiasm that is made possible only by thorough planning, years of experience and meticulous attention to detail…..and an uncanny ability to anticipate the wishes and expectations of their clients. In addition to the wonderful experience that the tours offer, we have made close friendships among those with whom we shared these experiences. This is an unexpected and priceless reward. We are eagerly anticipating our next nostalgic.de experience.

Tremendous amount of fun

Driving the Alfa Giulia Spider on these roads was magnificent, a tremendous amount of fun. The cars were genuinely in very good condition, engine, drive train, all good. All really went well, the road books were very well done even to us who were not familiar with all the signs on the roads in Europe. The guides were enthusiastic and contributed very well to the experience. I liked not having to follow a lead car but to be responsible myself for all directions. I did not feel as on a group tour, even though we made friends with some of the other couples on the tour.

The Drives were very enjoyable

The Drives over the four days were very enjoyable and each destination was fascinating and interesting. The Tour Guides for the various tours were knowledgeable and entertaining. Tuscany was a very enjoyable experience with stunning views and a joy to drive in an open top Mercedes SL. The entire Tour was well organised and the Host, Felix, made it enjoyable for all of us. The restaurant in Siena for the Group Dinner was very nice and the food was excellent.

Exceptional “classic car driving” experience

Walter and his team were exceptional. Any request was without a problem. As our first tour with Nostalgic our choice of Tuscany was a fabulous introduction. We will be back to have more fun, and an exceptional “classic car driving” experience.
